Golda was the 2015 Los Angeles Music Center’s Spotlight Award Winner, an accomplishment that led to solo performances of oratory works including Mozart’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah and concerts at famed venues including Walt Disney Hall, Royce Hall, and The Saban Theatre with great Southern California orchestras such as The Hollywood Chamber Orchestra, Burbank Philharmonic, Southwest Symphony, The Dream Orchestra, and LA OPERA under the baton of James Conlon.
Fresh off her sold-out concert spectacular “Golda Zahra in Concert” at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica, July 13th, Golda is excited to announce the upcoming performance of her debut role of Liu in Puccini’s Turandot at Walt Disney Hall on August 16th, 2024. Golda will join The Pacific Music Festival’s Puccini 100th gala concert production with an international, world-class ensemble cast.
Golda began her operatic journey at just 4 years old, listening to and attending operas with her parents. She studied classical piano and musical theatre, ultimately joining the Colburn Music School in downtown Los Angeles, immersing herself in LA OPERA’s community programs, and dedicating her life to opera. She moved directly to Italy after high school in 2017 and studied privately with some of the greatest Italian opera masters.
“As a classical singer, my goal is to make opera accessible for everyone,” said Golda. “Like Pavarotti, and friends—That was something that made people smile; warmed people’s hearts and brought people together.”
In 2020, Golda Zahra made her operatic debut as Violetta Valéry in Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata in Padova, Italy. In 2022, as a finalist for Rai Radio’s “Voci in Barcaccia” international opera competition, she recorded a CD for RAI Radio, and her performance was broadcasted live from Rome. Ms. Zahra lives in Italy and studies with the world-renowned soprano Barbara Frittoli in Milan. For upcoming concerts and performances, please follow her on Instagram @golda.zahra
